At Woolly Shepherd we have helped hundreds of Village Halls improve their acoustics and in doing so helped make the halls accessible for all members of the community.

Cloud Makers

Anita Roy has recently joined the Woolly Shepherd flock and is proving to be a natural cloud-maker.

Anita is also a wonderful writer, editor and environmentalist and has written books as well as articles for major newspapers.

Strangely her book “Gravepyres School for the Recently Deceased”, which she wrote prior to arriving at Woolly Shepherd, has a reference to cloud-makers in the storyline.

Anita’s book is becoming a reality at Woolly Shepherd and we look forward to a sequel!

Canal and River Trust

We were asked by the Canal and River Trust to treat their new observation chamber at the Diglis Fish Pass. Being a concrete construction, underground chamber with a metal staircase the acoustics were terrible. We measured the reverberation time at 3.97s Tmf however at the low end 63Hz we measured 11.96s. After treatment by Woolly Shepherd we brought the time down to 0.76s Tmf. Unfortunately, due to budget restrictions, there is still an issue with the low end reverberation however the overall acoustics are hugely improved as you can hear in the video. Fordcombe Village Hall

When we first set up the company, being a truly sustainable business was our single highest priority and as part of that we made it our mission to try and provide the level of service that we would like to receive ourselves. So, it is especially nice to receive unsolicited comments such as these from Fordcombe Village Hall:.

“On behalf of the Fordcombe Village Hall Committee we just wanted to say a massive thank you for our acoustic installation.

As a company you have been fantastic to work with from start to finish.

Both Janice and I have been super impressed.

Especially within this current climate, it really stands out when a company like yours cares so much throughout the entire process.

From design through to installation.

The fitting team were really lovely and their attention to detail was fantastic.

Most importantly, apart from looking really lovely, the sound difference is incredible!

Thanks so much.”

Sophie Dean (Fordcombe Village Hall)

I must just mention that we could set any number of ambitious targets and none of it would mean anything without the great team of people that you dealt with along the way.

Guide Dogs for the Blind

This may look like Kate is holding the bone of a woolly mammoth, but in fact we have a new order for Guide Dogs for the Blind. They are fitting out their newly refurbished training centre in Bristol and have asked us for a bespoke design with a doggy theme. There is nothing a guide dog likes more than a good bone, even if it is made of wool!

The Peppermill Devizes

It is always great to receive positive feedback from returning customers. We recently have had the pleasure of working again with Philip O’Shea of The Peppermill Restaurant in Devizes, as he is now looking at a third installation in his newly refurbished function room.

“After seeing this system in another restaurant in Looe and after much consideration being the horrible cynic that I am we decided to take the plunge and have them fitted into our restaurant. I cannot believe the difference it has made so much so we are currently having them installed into our function room. I cannot recommend these any higher”

RED GABLES

It is always fantastic to hear back from customers with their comments.

Red Gables is a Wellbeing Hub in Stowmarket.
Woolly Shepherd supplied them with our Suspended Acoustic Sound Clouds.
The response was wonderful:

“Dear everyone at Woolly Shepherd,

I am writing to thank you for supplying us with a fantastic product and the advice on fixing it. Our Lunch club are delighted by the clouds, which have completely removed a serious reverberation issue. Another small music group, which is part of a registered charity, called Music In Our Bones now record weekly in the hall because the acoustics are so good. They then duplicate and deliver CDs of their music to care homes and isolated people across the county. They would normally run lots of session for people to join in but have been using this method of reaching out to people. Prior to the clouds being installed they would use a variety of other less suitable rooms for recording and sometimes just do it in the gardens of our centre. One of their leaders has told me that the clouds have completely transformed the room.

From an aesthetic point of view as you can see, we have painted the ceiling which has helped to make the clouds even more of a standout feature and has changed the atmosphere of the room.

The panels arrived even earlier than we had hoped and were well packaged. We are reusing the cardboard boxes, large plastic wrapping sleeves and the pallet in the garden project, and my wife is cutting up the offcuts of felt to repurpose into a rug /weaving, so I am pleased to say that apart from the plastic retaining straps we have managed to recycle everything.

I cannot thank you enough for being such a great company to deal with, helpful and friendly and with a great product. Please thank all of your staff.”

Kind regards,

Robert Horn
Manager
