• Deer Park Country House is an elegant Georgian manor house set in beautiful surroundings near Honiton, in Devon.
  • The hotel owners had had an Orangery built as a venue for wedding receptions and corporate events; it accommodates around 200 people.
  • However, the reverberation in the room was so excessive that people could not hold conversations comfortably. It was so bad, in fact, that the owners were concerned about the venue’s reputation.
  • The owners contacted us to see if we could help, so we visited and carried out measurements of reverberation time.
  • We established that the RT was excessive, at 2.3 s Tmf.
  • We proposed several potential solutions that we felt might be suitable from our product range. However, the room had been decorated to an exceptionally high standard, and the customer had a strong wish for acoustic treatment that would blend seamlessly with the décor.
  • Consequently our design team worked hard to create bespoke panels that would sit neatly in the existing ceiling recesses. Careful measurements were taken and prototype panels were built, allowing the customer to have an idea of the end result.
  • With just the right combination of size, weight and acoustic absorption, two panels were fitted in each recess.
  • Repeat measurements of RT were carried out, and the results speak for themselves.
  • People can now hold events in comfort, without being distracted by excessive noise.
  • The owners were so delighted with the aesthetics that they said it actually looked better than before.
