Woolly Shepherd ceiling suspended sound clouds are a unique acoustic absorber made entirely from natural fibres (100% UK sheep’s wool and compressed, waste, wood fibre).
The vast majority of the cloud is made from sheep’s wool, but the core of the cloud is a compressed wood fibre board. This helps to provide structural support and an improved lower frequency performance.
The acoustic performance of the clouds and all other Woolly Shepherd absorbers is measured in a reverberation chamber at ISVR Southampton.
In order to ensure that the stated performance our acoustic sound clouds can be relied upon and compared fairly with other acoustic absorbers, the testing is carried out in accordance with BS EN ISO 354: 2003 ‘Acoustics Measurement of sound absorption in a reverberation room’.
The results of this testing can be seen here
As a consequence of their irregular shape, the clouds are tested and reported as a value (absorption coefficient) per item rather than the more normal reporting of absorption per square meter of material. This simply means that the clouds are reported as a value equivalent to Xm2 of a 100% absorber.
Standard clouds are offered in three natural wool colours, but if you really do feel that these colours are not to your taste we can offer a dyeing service, but this will impact on both price and lead times.
We have been producing acoustic clouds since 2012 and even though we now produce a variety of other absorbers, the clouds still remain our best selling product.
