This project was undertaken at the end of 2014 and involves the assessment and treatment of two rooms, a cafe and a puppy training hall, at the HQ of the charity Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, situated in Buckinghamshire.

As many of the volunteers who work for the charity, have a hearing impairment or are deaf themselves, it was vitally important that the acoustic in both spaces should be brought up to a standard more suited to these users.

The cafe, the customer’s main priority, has been reduced to a reverberation time of 0.4 seconds (125Hz – 4000Hz) using acoustic clouds right the way around the lower ceiling slopes.

In the puppy hall, as an initial improvement step, the reverberation time was virtually halved to 1.0 seconds using ceiling mounted panels on the monopitch ceiling.
